The Pink Free Music Download

I'm pretty anxious about finishing Brobdingnagian Fairy Tales. So much so, that I want people to hear it before it is completed. That's why we are giving away 'Lily the Pink' for free!

Andrew told me he grew up listening to an Irish Rovers recording of "Lily the Pink." So last year, we added the song to our repetoire. It's now one of our catchiest new songs. It's about as popular as Mrs. Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound was at the beginning of the 20th century.

This is the perfect song to introduce you to some of what's to come. So right now, we're giving it away for free. All we ask is that you share the Free MP3 Music Download with your friends when you download it? So go ahead. Tell your friends about it. I guarantee they'll love it.

Happily Ever After, a Free MP3 Download

The search for great free music downloads continues. Well, this week I released another free mp3 from the Brobdingnagian Bards next CD, "Brobdingnagian Fairy Tales. The CD is still in production but blossoming beautifully!

I wrote "Happily Ever After," man, I've lost track of time. It was some time in 1999 when I wrote it.

I remember in college going to a conference in St. Louis. There was a panel on relationships, and the speaker introduced us to a children's book called, "The Paperbag Princess." This reversed fairy tale told the story of a princess who saves herself from a dragon rather than putting up with the vanity of "Prince Charming."

It made a great impact on me. The result was scribbling out a song called, "Happily Ever After" about that tale.

It's popularity in early days spread quite well, and by our second year together it was used by Texas A&M as a chant for the Core there. I always thought that that was way cool.

Music Website Pet Peeves

Boy, I really detest how some people do websites. Bands are some of the worst. Seems like any band that wants to look "professional" feels they must create a website using pop-ups and flash. Why? Cuz that's what the Majors do?

I tried to go to a friends website today to find his email address. He's in a band. "Click here if you have a pop-up stopper." Now is that a stupid way to start a website or what?

So I clicked... dreading the outcome... For the next minute the f***ing minute flash loaded... A MINUTE!

Meanwhile, I was enjoying some wonderful music by Angelo Branduardi, a wonderful Italian world folk musician. Then "BLLAAAAARRRR." The frickin flash program was trying to play music that was causing problems with the music I was enjoying... All I wanted was an email address, not a headache!

I've mentioned it to him before. Obviously, he didn't care that much what I had to say.

I find it intriguing. I mean, can you imagine a journalist wanting to go to his website and find some simple information about him. The site is worthless to some journalists. He's alienating them. I mean, I'm a journalist with the Celtic MP3s Music Magazine, and I find it horrendous.

Personally, when I start researching a band, I like to go to their website, copy and paste some info about the band, and voila!

There is NO copy and pasting available with Flash.

Seriously folks, chill with the flash!
