Austin Cat Festival

I had a wee cat brainstorm yesterday.

About a week ago, I mentioned the Siamese Cat looking for a home here in Austin or wherever. Well, he has Feline Leukemia which seems to be making it difficult for him to find a new home. Still no takers.

So then, yesterday, I took Tiziano and Torre, my teenage tabby cats to the vet. There, I saw a flyer for a big dog festival with Valejo. Add to that the MeowMix Kitty Cat Cafe in New York, and a thought came to me. What about putting on the Austin Cat Festival to raise money for Feline Leukemia research, get the Siamese Kitty adopted, and of course, build awareness for my Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers CD!

Mayhaps do something at a local venue like Ruta Maya with 2-8 local bands and me performing a few of my cat songs. Start it off small to start. But it'd be way cool to add things like a cat art show, some cat vendors, cat health advice and all that jazz.

The trick is putting all that stuff together. I could probably find the bands... ooo! Schrodinger's Cat. But to really do a good job it be cool to have some help. So if ye know anyone who might be interested, let me know.

Meantime, it's on my brainstorming list to work out more ideas. I might wait until November or so... though it'd be nice to try to put on in September before I get too busy.

Brobdingnagian Fairy Tales

I just got done listening to the first three mixes from Brobdingnagian Fairy Tales, our forthcoming CD. They sound fantastic. All the research that Andrew's put into learning how to record and make great CD mixes is really paying off!

Right now, the songs I heard, "Happily Ever After", "Angel's Lament", and "None But A Harper."

Incidentally, last Friday I talked to Peter S. Beagle's manager (Beagle is the guy who wrote "None But A Harper". See the last page of the The Last Unicorn). Looks like there's some good potential to start to work more with Peter S. Beagle in the future. And of course, we got permission to use "None But A Harper" on our CD... which is ALWAYS nice!

Any case, I'll try to keep ye informed how it goes.

Cat Songs Pressing Down with Recent News

Aya! Seems now New York is jumping on the kitty bandwagon with a new article in CNN New York cafe caters to kitties. Seems MeowMix opened a new cafe that serves cats and humans.

Dang! I'm feeling the urge to complete this Cat Songs CD ASAP. But I know there will be plenty more opportunities in the future. I just have to be patient. I've got sooo many ideas with this CD... a horde of promotion thoughts and suggestions, and of course a ton of cat songs and more to come.

Plus, there's the Celtic Cat Rock song I want to do. Oy! So many ideas, and so little time. The important thing is, there'll always be a plethora of fun opportunities to promote this CD. Hmm... Maybe I'll start running my promotion ideas along.

Where'd I put all those notes?

CAT SONGS - New Cat CD Nearly Written

My cat songs are piling up. I already have well over the initial nine cat songs I had thought about using. Soon, I'm gonna have to filter through the songs and find the absolute best. Esp since I haven't even begun recording anything for my CD of cat songs for Irish music fans.

That said, here is the most-recent list of potential songs for my CD Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers:
  1. Wild Kitty
  2. Danny Boy
  3. Black Kitty Paw
  4. When Kitty Eyes Are Smiling
  5. Big Strong Cat (My Puddy Tat Sylvester)
  6. Furagone's Wake
  7. The Cat Came Back... Cat's Perspective
  8. Jasper Tabby, Kitty Cat-yCatnipping Green
  9. Harry Potter, Rising of the Moon
  10. I'll Tell My Cat (When I Come Home)
  11. The Demented Cat Game
  12. Lord of the Pounce
  13. Black Is The Color (of My Cat's Fur)
  14. Kitty Cat
Course, as this CD comes together and I compile a list of Irish Drinking songs, I think, "maybe I should record an Irish Drinking Songs CD as well. I mean, after all, not all of these songs are on our Irish Folk Songs CD? Plus, I'll have already pretty much started the CD."

Ah. Who knows? I'll keep it under consideration, but there's no guarantees. I gotta remember to do one project at a time. And right now, I'm working on the Brobdingnagian Bards Irish drinking songs and folk songs CD to worry about. Heck, I haven't even figured out what to call the CD yet either. All in good time.

For now, I hope you enjoy the lyrics that are written. And stay tuned. This is just the beginning!
